Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) will resume classes and academic activities on October 28, ending a 36-day shutdown, while students and teachers continue demanding the reinstatement of former Vice-Chancellor Professor Abu Sadaat Muhammad Sayem.
The decision was announced in a statement on Monday (October 26), following students' appeals and a teachers' association meeting. However, protesters will continue their movement and non-cooperation with newly appointed Vice-Chancellor Professor Sheikh Shariful Alam.
Meanwhile, a University Grants Commission (UGC) consultation team will visit the campus on October 28 to meet university stakeholders.
Sayem was replaced on September 21, triggering a student-led shutdown from September 22, later joined by teachers, officers and employees.
