US singer Chris Brown has been sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for 12 months, over a 2023 assault on music producer Abraham Diaw at a London nightclub, according to BBC.
Brown pleaded guilty to affray at Southwark Crown Court in July. The court heard that he struck Diaw twice on the head with a tequila bottle at Tape London nightclub in February 2023, while co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, known as HoodyBaby, punched the victim.
Akinlolu was sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for 12 months.
Judge Tony Baumgartner said Brown’s success in the music industry did not entitle him to different treatment under the law.
According to the Crown Prosecution Service, the attack continued as Diaw attempted to escape. He was kicked while sitting on the floor, unable to defend himself.
Diaw was taken to hospital with injuries to his head and knees.
Brown was arrested in May 2025 after returning to the UK for his world tour. Prosecutors described the incident as a “vicious and unprovoked” attack.
Both defendants had denied charges of assault and grievous bodily harm, while Brown also denied possessing an offensive weapon. Those charges were later dropped.
