A Dhaka court has directed actress Tanjin Tisha to appear before it on November 23 to explain allegations that she threatened fashion designer Sanaya Chowdhury for filing a case against her.
On Monday (October 26), an executive magistrate court in Dhaka recorded the complainant’s statement and took cognisance of the complaint filed by Sanaya Chowdhury.
According to the complaint, Tisha allegedly threatened Sanaya and pressured her to withdraw an earlier case. The designer also alleged that unidentified people were sent to intimidate her and threaten her with expulsion from the country.
Sanaya filed the earlier case against Tisha on November 27, 2025, under Sections 420 and 406 of the Penal Code, alleging that the actress had failed to return a sari worth Tk 75,000 borrowed for an event in December 2024.
The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted a report finding no evidence to substantiate the allegations. Sanaya later filed a naraji petition challenging the report, following which the court ordered a further investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Sanaya’s lawyer, Shubhra Sinha Roy, confirmed the latest court order.
