Today (October 26) is the last day for submitting nomination papers for the by-election to the reserved women's parliamentary seat vacated by BNP lawmaker Ferdousi Ahmed Mishti following her resignation.
According to the election schedule, candidates must submit their nomination papers to the returning officer by Monday.
The nominations will be scrutinised on October 27.
Appeals against the scrutiny decisions can be filed on October 28, with their disposal scheduled for October 29.
The deadline for withdrawing candidacies is November 1, while electoral symbols will be allocated on November 2. Voting is scheduled to take place on November 12.
The seat fell vacant after the Parliament Secretariat declared it vacant following Misti's resignation.
Her name came up in connection with an attack, looting and vandalism at the RADDA MCH-FP Centre in Dhaka's Mirpur. Following the incident, BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman reportedly directed her to resign.
The Election Commission is now organising the by-election to fill the vacant reserved seat.
