MP Barrister Rumin Farhana has said she should be named the prime accused if any case is filed over her altercation with the officer-in-charge (OC) of Sarail Police Station in Brahmanbaria.

Her personal assistant, Zakir Hossain, distributed a written statement to journalists on Saturday afternoon in which she made the remarks.

The statement came after reports emerged that police had filed a general diary (GD) over her argument with Sarail Police Station OC Manzur Kader Bhuiyan at the police station on Thursday night (October 22).

In the statement, Rumin Farhana said she had lodged a written complaint against the OC with the district superintendent of police on October 23. She said she was waiting for the authorities to take departmental action against the officer, expressing respect for the administration.

She also warned that she would announce further programmes if the authorities failed to take appropriate action.

Rumin Farhana, a lawmaker from Brahmanbaria-2, which covers Sarail, Ashuganj and part of Bijoynagar, was involved in a heated exchange with the OC over alleged irregularities and corruption, as well as the lack of police security during her visits to Durga Puja venues.

A person accompanying her also alleged that the OC had taken Tk 30,000 in bribes from him. The OC denied the allegation and claimed that Rumin Farhana had coached the person before bringing him to the police station.
