Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has decided to add two new security systems across metro rail stations in a bid to enhance passenger safety and fortify overall security.
Under the decision, DMTCL will install archway metal detectors and luggage scanners at all metro rail stations in the capital.
A senior DMTCL official stated that these modern security measures are being introduced to prevent untoward incidents and ensure thorough inspection of passengers' bags and belongings.
According to official sources, a formal online tender has already been invited to procure the security equipment. Mohammad Asaduzzaman, General Manager (Store and Procurement) at DMTCL, issued the e-tender notice on October 19.
The notice instructed eligible and interested firms to submit their e-tenders by registering through the National e-Government Procurement (e-GP) portal. Detailed guidelines and information regarding the tender process can be accessed via the e-GP portal and the authority's dedicated helpdesk.
The same notice also called for bids regarding an Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) for the electrical facilities at the MRT Line-6 depot. This maintenance work will cover the depot's low-voltage systems, diesel generator sets, uninterrupted power supply (UPS) units, ventilation systems, and other routine electrical infrastructure.
According to the tender notice, primary tender documents can be purchased between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM on November 11, 2026.
