US President Donald Trump has hinted at the possibility of launching fresh military strikes on Iran, reigniting tensions over the prospect of renewed conflict between the two countries.
The remarks came during a rally in Florida on Friday local time, according to a Reuters report.
Trump said, the United States might carry out another “small” military operation against Iran. He also spoke of plans to address the Cuba issue after returning from Iran.
“We may do another little Epic Fury,” Trump said at the rally. Operation Epic Fury was the name given to the US military campaign against Iran.
Trump also outlined plans to deal with Cuba after the Iran issue. “When we come back from Iran, we’ll take a look at Cuba,” he said, adding that he would then send Secretary of State Marco Rubio to finalise a deal with the country.
However, Trump did not provide details about the possible agreement with Cuba or the next steps Washington might take.
Meanwhile, Iran has warned that it would respond more forcefully if the United States launches fresh attacks. Tehran’s warning has raised concerns about a further escalation of military tensions between the two countries.
