Ronaldo moves closer to 1,000 goals as Al Nassr win

Cristiano Ronaldo moved closer to the historic milestone of 1,000 career goals after scoring in Al Nassr’s 3-1 victory over Al Faisaly in the Saudi Pro League on Friday.

The 41-year-old Portuguese superstar took his official career tally to 982 goals with a header in the 49th minute at Al Majma’ah Sports City Stadium, connecting with a free-kick from compatriot Joao Felix.

Abdullah Al Hamdan opened the scoring for Al Nassr in the fourth minute, while Angelo Gabriel sealed the victory in the 79th minute. Bongonda scored Al Faisaly’s only goal.

Ronaldo was named man of the match but handed the award to teammate Al Hamdan, who scored once and assisted another goal. Ronaldo later presented the award to Al Hamdan on the podium, and the two posed for a photograph.

Ronaldo has scored 836 goals in 1,109 club appearances and 146 goals in 234 matches for Portugal.

His club tally includes 450 goals for Real Madrid, 145 for Manchester United, 134 for Al Nassr, 101 for Juventus and five for Sporting Lisbon.

Ronaldo has scored six goals for Al Nassr this season, including five in the Saudi Pro League and one in the AFC Champions League.

He now needs 18 more goals to reach 1,000 official career goals.
