K-pop superstars BTS paid tribute to Lionel Messi during their first concert in Argentina, wearing the football legend’s No. 10 jersey and imitating his iconic goal celebration.
The concert took place on Wednesday at Estadio Único Diego Armando Maradona in La Plata. During a performance of “Come Over,” five BTS members appeared in Argentina national team jerseys featuring Messi’s number and the world champions’ emblem.
Member V, whose real name is Kim Taehyung, led the crowd in chanting “Messi, Messi, Messi,” sparking excitement across the stadium. Messi’s image was also displayed on the giant screen.
The tribute brought together fans of football and music, celebrating one of Argentina’s biggest sporting icons on home soil.
BTS’s connection with football is not new. Suga has previously shown his interest in the sport, while Jungkook performed “Dreamers” at the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The concert was part of BTS’s “Arirang” world tour, marking the group’s return to the global stage as a full seven-member lineup after completing their military service.
