Two more people died of measles-like symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll from measles and related symptoms to 1,207 since March 15 this year.

In addition, 1,031 new cases with measles and measles-like symptoms were reported over the past day, according to the regular daily bulletin released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday (October 22).

According to DGHS data, both recent deaths occurred in the Dhaka division. Out of the total 1,207 deaths recorded since March 15, 104 individuals died of confirmed measles, while 1,103 succumbed to measles-like symptoms.

Over the last 24 hours, 995 people showed measles-like symptoms, bringing the total number of suspected cases to 217,760. Furthermore, 36 new confirmed cases were identified during the same period, raising the total number of confirmed measles cases in the country to 23,248.

DGHS records also show that a total of 189,448 patients with suspected measles were admitted to various hospitals nationwide between March 15 and October 22. Among them, 185,927 patients recovered and returned home after treatment.
