Kishoreganj-1 MP Mohammad Mazharul Islam has thanked Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for directing the relevant authorities to take the necessary administrative steps to upgrade Kishoreganj General Hospital from 250 to 500 beds.
In a letter sent to the secretary of the Health Services Division on October 14, the Prime Minister’s Office directed the authorities to take necessary administrative measures in accordance with the rules and submit a progress report on the initiative.
The letter said Mazharul Islam had requested the prime minister to upgrade the 250-bed general hospital in his constituency to a 500-bed facility. In response, the relevant division was asked to take the necessary follow-up measures.
Welcoming the initiative as an important step towards fulfilling a long-standing demand of the people of Kishoreganj, the MP expressed his gratitude to the prime minister on behalf of the people of his constituency.
He expressed hope that the proposed expansion would improve access to healthcare for people in Kishoreganj and neighbouring areas, expand treatment facilities and raise the overall standard of healthcare in the district.
The MP also wished the prime minister good health, longevity and continued success.
However, the letter does not constitute final approval for the hospital’s expansion or confirm that implementation has begun. It directs the relevant authorities to take the next administrative steps in accordance with the rules and report on progress.
