Straw-laden vehicle catches fire near Rooppur NPP

A fire broke out in a straw-laden three-wheeler approximately 10 meters outside the boundary of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna on Wednesday (October 21) afternoon.

The incident took place around 4:15PM on the road directly in front of the power plant premises.

According to local and police sources, the vehicle was traveling from Rooppur intersection toward Bheramara. A fire reportedly ignited in the straw from a lit cigarette amidst strong wind currents while the driver was smoking.

Army personnel stationed in the area and members of the Ishwardi Traffic Police acted swiftly to douse the flames before they could spread to adjacent areas. Following the containment, the driver departed the scene with the vehicle.

Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ashadur Rahman confirmed the incident, stating that the situation was brought under control immediately and normal conditions have been restored.
