Students of Saidpur Government Science College were delighted after Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stopped in front of their college on Tuesday and gifted them sports equipment while travelling to Rangpur.

The prime minister arrived at Saidpur Airport in Nilphamari by military aircraft at 9:50 AM to visit Durga Puja mandaps in Rangpur. On his way to the city by bus, he stopped near the college, took selfies with students and gifted them footballs, cricket bats and other sports equipment.

College Principal Abul Kalam Azad said the students were standing in front of the college when the prime minister stopped to meet them. He also said he had submitted a written request to the prime minister seeking infrastructure development, including two student hostels and an auditorium.

According to his schedule, the prime minister will visit religious sites in Rangpur, Rajshahi and Chattogram before returning to Dhaka at night.
