Jatiya Chhatra Shakti has announced partial committees for its Dhaka Metropolitan North and South units, with Naeem Abedin named president and Imran Bhuiyan Taskin general secretary of the South unit.
The announcement came in a notice signed by the organisation’s central president Abu Bakar Majumder and general secretary Tahmid Al Muddassir Chowdhury. The committees will serve for one year and have been asked to announce their full committees within seven working days.
Naeem, a fourth-year undergraduate student in the Department of English at East West University, emerged as a student leader during the July uprising. In August 2024, he served in the central organising wing of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and later became a member of its 18-member central executive committee.
He also served as a founding senior organiser of Bangladesh Democratic Student Parliament, formed after the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement split. Following the launch of Jatiya Chhatra Shakti as an associate organisation of the National Citizen Party (NCP), he became its senior joint member secretary.
Imran led the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in the Jatrabari-Demra area during the July uprising, serving as a coordinator.
