State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain is set to hand over his resignation letter to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman before holding a formal press conference to announce his exit from the cabinet.

A source close to Ishraque confirmed the matter, stating that his resignation letter has been finalized and will be submitted to the Prime Minister at noon. Following the submission, Ishraque will hold a press conference at the National Press Club around 2:00 PM to announce his resignation publicly.

Earlier on Monday morning, Ishraque shared a post on Facebook writing, "Today at 2:00 PM, I will make the final announcement of my resignation from the post of State Minister for Liberation War Affairs at the National Press Club and face journalists, InshaAllah."

Expressing his regrets, the State Minister wrote, "I saw some civil society figures writing celebratory posts on Facebook. I hope that if a movement or struggle is needed in the future, they will feel inspired by nationalist ideals to return home from abroad and join that movement."

Reiterating his commitment to combating drug abuse despite leaving office, Ishraque added, "This time, not as a Member of Parliament or a State Minister, but as a BNP activist, I will work against drugs with a hundred times more enthusiasm, InshaAllah. The cleanliness campaign will be further intensified. I will be able to visit various districts to strengthen the organizational structure of Projonmo Dal nationwide. Not minister, but eradication of drugs! Eradication of drugs, eradication of drugs!"

The development follows reports broadcast on state-run television BTV and other media outlets on Sunday claiming that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman had instructed State Minister Ishraque Hossain to resign from the cabinet, though no official statement has been issued by the government or relevant authorities regarding the instruction.
