Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain has said that 17 years of fascism have set the country's health sector back significantly, pledging that the government will take all necessary measures to prevent cancer.
He made the remarks at the National Cancer Congress 2026 on Monday morning.
The minister said, a large portion of the health sector's budget would be allocated to cancer treatment.
He also said, there would be no delays in installing or removing cancer treatment machines and that steps would be taken to exempt the machines from import duties.
Emphasising accountability in the health sector, Sakhawat said negligence would not be tolerated and that anyone found negligent would lose their job.
