Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stood by the people during every national crisis and disaster despite living abroad through various hardships for 17 years, said BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

He made the remarks after paying homage and offering Fateha at the graves of former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia at Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, on Sunday.

Earlier, Rizvi, alongside leaders and activists of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation (ZRF), placed wreaths at the graves of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia to mark the 27th anniversary of the organization.

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that under the visionary leadership of Tarique Rahman, the Ziaur Rahman Foundation expanded its reach beyond the national level to grass-roots areas. He noted that Tarique Rahman provided constant guidance and sent humanitarian aid from abroad during every national crisis, including the corona virus pandemic, heavy rains, floods, and winter cold waves.

He added that during the difficult period of autocratic rule, the organization conducted various unique programs, including online science exhibitions, to inspire youth toward science and education. Furthermore, the organization carried out humanitarian activities such as providing artificial limbs to accident victims, planting trees, and offering medical support to help individuals return to normal life.

Ziaur Rahman Foundation Executive Director Dr Farhat Halim Donor and Dr Morshed Hasan Khan, along with physicians, engineers, teachers, and senior professionals, were present on the occasion.
