Journalist Lutfuzzaman Alif murder: Suspect arrested

Law enforcement arrested him from the Old Cinema Hall Road during a midnight drive on Saturday (October 17).

The detained Sajebul Islam Apoorba, 23, is the son of Shamsher Ali from the Ukilpara area of Durgapur municipal town. Durgapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khandaker Saker Ahmed confirmed that Apoorba is an associate of Tajul Islam, a notorious criminal in Durgapur.

Earlier on Thursday night, miscreants shot and killed journalist Alif near a shop close to his home in Telonjia village under Durgapur upazila. The incident took place at around 8:15 PM on Thursday in the Telonjia area, located slightly off the Shyamganj-Birishiri road in Durgapur municipality.

Slain journalist Lutfuzzaman Alif Fakir worked as the Netrokona correspondent for the IPTV channel Ruposhi Bangla. Additionally, he ran a Facebook page named Detective Article, where he wrote about various irregularities and crimes. His native home is in Sunoi village of Pogla union under Kalmakanda upazila of the district.
