NARAYANGANJ, Oct 17: Narayanganj-2 lawmaker Nazrul Islam Azad has provided financial assistance from government and personal funds to 37 temples in Araihazar Upazila of the district to support celebrations of Durga Puja.
The grants were handed over at a programme on Friday evening, with the aim of helping the temples organise the Hindu community’s largest religious festival.
Azad attended the event as the chief guest, while Araihazar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Asadur Rahman chaired the programme.
Araihazar upazila BNP President Yusuf Ali Bhuiyan attended as the main speaker. Upazila BNP general secretary Jewel Ahmed Jewel moderated the event.
The upazila administration and the upazila unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) jointly organised the programme.
Organisers said the financial assistance would help the temples meet festival-related expenses and ensure that devotees could observe religious rituals and participate in celebrations without disruption.
They added that the support was intended to facilitate arrangements for the annual festival across the 37 temples in the upazila.
