Indian playback singer Shreya Ghoshal has sparked speculation about her possible membership in the Recording Academy’s voting panel for the 2027 Grammy Awards following her participation in a Grammy-sponsored session, although neither the singer nor the Academy has confirmed the claim.
Ghoshal attended a session titled ‘Shaping Sounds’, organised by the Recording Academy alongside Lara Raj, a member of global girl group KATSEYE. Her appearance at the event fuelled speculation about a possible connection with the Academy’s voting body.
The discussion gained momentum after Los Angeles-based composer and classical pianist Raashi Kulkarni shared photographs and videos of Ghoshal from the session on social media. Fans subsequently expressed excitement over the possibility of the singer joining the Grammy voting panel.
However, participation in a Grammy-sponsored event does not automatically confer voting membership. The singer’s reported membership remains unconfirmed.
Ghoshal rose to prominence after winning the television singing competition ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’. She made her Bollywood playback debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2002 film ‘Devdas’, which marked a major breakthrough in her career.
She has since recorded songs in several Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Marathi. Her accolades include five National Film Awards, along with multiple Filmfare Awards and state-level honours.
Despite the growing online speculation, no official announcement has been made regarding her membership in the Recording Academy’s voting body.
