At least 11 people, including six women and two children, were killed in a Myanmar military airstrike on a village in the country’s central region, a local rebel fighter said on Saturday.
The attack took place around 2pm on Friday in Yesagyo, southwest of Mandalay, in an area controlled by the People’s Defence Force (PDF), according to rebel fighter Bo Paw.
The victims included a one-year-old child and an 11-year-old schoolboy. A local witness said three houses near the roadside were completely destroyed.
The military did not comment on the attack, AFP reported.
Myanmar has been embroiled in civil war since the military seized power in 2021, ousting the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi. According to conflict monitor ACLED, more than 100,000 people have been killed since the fighting began.
