Nahrin appointed chief information commissioner

Jahangirnagar University Professor Dr Nahrin Islam Khan has been appointed chief information commissioner, while journalist SAM Mahfuzur Rahman and Khan Mohammad Abul Hossain have been appointed information commissioners.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued two separate notifications on Saturday (October 17), announcing the appointments.

According to the notifications, the appointments were made by the President under Section 15(1) of the Right to Information Act, 2009.

The notifications also stated that the government would determine the status, remuneration, allowances and other benefits of the chief information commissioner and the information commissioners. The orders, issued in the public interest, took immediate effect.
