Bangladesh and China have discussed plans to establish a joint technical and technology university to strengthen technical education and skills development.
Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan held talks with Chinese Vice Minister of Education Ren Youqun on Friday (October 16) on the sidelines of the 2026 World Technical and Vocational Education Development Conference in Tianjin, China.
The meeting also discussed developing Bangladesh’s technical institutions, launching joint education programmes and expanding Chinese government scholarships for Bangladeshi students.
Addressing the meeting, Milan stressed the need to integrate practical, technical and digital skills into education to meet the changing demands of the global labour market.
He said Bangladesh aims to align technical education with industry needs, update teachers’ skills and provide students with hands-on training through industry partnerships.
Earlier, Milan presented Bangladesh’s national statement at the conference’s opening session, outlining plans to modernise technical education and strengthen links between education and industry.
