Pirojpur's central bus terminal has become nearly unusable due to years of neglect, causing daily suffering for around 30,000 passengers.
Built in 2006 in Machhimpur, the terminal is plagued by potholes and waterlogging. Around 10 times more buses than its capacity reportedly use the facility, forcing vehicles to park along nearby roads and increasing traffic congestion and accident risks.
Pirojpur Municipality Executive Engineer Dhruba Lal Dutta Banik said modernisation plans were in place, but work could not begin due to a lack of funds.
More than 600 buses and minibuses operate on 14 routes through the terminal daily. Passengers and transport workers have urged authorities to renovate it quickly.
