Rashmika Mandanna to support 400 families

South Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna has announced an initiative to support 400 families by covering their essential grocery expenses over the next year.

According to NDTV, the actress revealed the initiative, titled ‘Project Annapurna’, in a video shared on social media on Wednesday, October 14.

Under the plan, Rashmika will cover three months of grocery expenses for 400 families at a time, helping them save money and better manage their finances. The initiative aims to ease the burden of essential household expenses and allow families to set aside money for the future.

Speaking about the project, Rashmika said the characters she portrays often influence her personal life. Referring to Jayamma, her character in the upcoming film ‘Ranabaali’, she said the desire to help people had always been part of her.

The actress added that she had not previously spoken publicly about such initiatives. However, she now believes sharing these efforts could inspire others to undertake small acts of kindness.

Rashmika also said even a small good deed could make a difference in someone’s life and that people did not need to do something extraordinary to help others. Reflecting on the challenges she had faced throughout her career, including injuries, hardships, tears and sleepless nights, she said seeing people smile was invaluable to her.

The announcement comes ahead of the release of her upcoming film ‘Ranabaali’, in which she stars alongside her husband, Vijay Deverakonda. Vijay plays the titular character, while Rashmika portrays Jayamma.

Set in southern India in the 1870s, the film explores the backdrop of the devastating Madras famine of 1876–1878.
