Standard Islami Bank holds workshop to strengthen Shariah compliance

Standard Islami Bank PLC held a workshop on Shariah compliance in banking operations at its head office on October 14, 2026, aiming to strengthen adherence to Islamic banking principles across all its operations.

Managing Director Riad Mahmud Chowdhury chaired the workshop, attended by members of the Bank’s Shariah Supervisory Committee, Dr A S M Toriqul Islam and Mufti Dr Mohammad Imam Hossain, as distinguished guests.

Speaking at the workshop, Dr Toriqul Islam emphasised the importance of ethical values and exemplary conduct in Islamic banking. Mufti Dr Imam Hossain discussed the significance of Shariah compliance, outlining the key requirements and their practical implementation in banking operations.

Additional Managing Director Md Siddiqur Rahman moderated the session and presented a review of branch-level Shariah audits, while Deputy Managing Director Md Jabedul Alam delivered the welcome address.

Officials from the Shariah Secretariat Division and heads of various divisions attended the workshop, along with branch heads, operations managers and investment in-charges from different branches.

The workshop provided a platform for frontline banking officials to engage directly with senior management and Shariah experts, reinforcing the Bank’s commitment to ethical banking practices and Shariah-compliant operations.
