The final ODI on Australian soil did not end well for the Bangladesh women's team. Nigar Sultana Joty's side suffered a heavy 8-wicket defeat, resulting in a 3-0 whitewash in the three-match series.
Bangladesh had previously lost the first ODI by 7 wickets and the second by 9 wickets.
Chasing a modest target of 173 runs in the final ODI, Australia lost two wickets for 38 runs but secured an easy victory thanks to the batting of Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland.
Perry (65 off 64 balls) and Sutherland (74 off 52 balls) played explosive innings to guide their team to victory. Earlier, despite twin half-centuries from Sharmin Akter and Swarna Akter, Bangladesh was bowled out for 172 in 49.5 overs.
After winning the toss in Brisbane, the Bangladesh team stepped in to bat. Once again, disaster struck early; the 'Tigresses' lost three wickets with the score at just 18.
Murshida Khatun (1), Sharmin Sultana (6), and captain Nigar Sultana Joty (3) all departed cheaply. Sobhana Mostary, who had scored a century in the previous match, also failed to make an impact, scoring 9 runs off 24 balls.
Sharmin Akter held one end up and kept the innings moving. However, after reaching her fifty off 93 balls with eight boundaries, she was dismissed for exactly 50. Ritu Moni fell for 9.
Bangladesh had lost six wickets for 115 runs. From there, Swarna Akter tried to steady the ship alongside Rabeya Khan; Rabeya, however, was bowled after scoring 13 off 16 balls. Swarna did manage to reach her half-century. Her dismissal, after scoring 54 off 71 balls with four boundaries, ended any hopes of Bangladesh reaching the 200-run mark.
Disha Biswas remained unbeaten on 13. Australia's Megan Schutt claimed 4 wickets for just 16 runs.
