Fire breaks out at Tongi pharmaceutical factory

A fire broke out at the state-run Essential Drugs pharmaceutical factory in Cherag Ali area of Tongi, Gazipur, on Wednesday morning.
Three units from Tongi Fire Station are still working to bring the blaze under control, while eight more units were being sent to the scene.
According to the Fire Service, the fire originated at around 10:15AM. Firefighters reached the site at around 10:25AM and began efforts to contain the blaze.
Shahjahan Shikder, chief of the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters' media cell, said steps were taken to deploy the necessary units immediately after receiving information about the fire.
The facility is located about two kilometres from the nearest fire station.
The cause of the fire is yet to be known.
