Türkiye has pledged to stand by Saudi Arabia amid Houthi attacks, with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressing support for Riyadh during a phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday (October 13).
According to Al Jazeera, Erdogan strongly condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and expressed confidence that the kingdom could overcome the challenges.
The pledge has brought renewed attention to defence cooperation between Ankara and Riyadh amid rising regional tensions.
In August, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan signed a joint defence agreement known as the “Mecca Defence Alliance.” Under the agreement, an attack on any member is considered an attack on all members.
The agreement aims to strengthen mutual defence cooperation and collective deterrence among Saudi Arabia, NATO member Türkiye and nuclear-armed Pakistan.
