Bangladesh Railway has warned passengers against buying train tickets through unauthorised websites, apps, Facebook pages, individuals or third parties, saying it will not be liable for financial losses or fraud arising from such transactions.
In a recent notice published on its official website, the railway authorities urged passengers to purchase tickets only through approved channels.
According to the notice, train tickets must be purchased through the Bangladesh Railway’s authorised e-ticketing website, the Rail Sheba app or approved ticket counters.
The railway authorities said they would not take responsibility if passengers suffered financial losses, fraud, misuse of personal information or account blocking while purchasing or attempting to purchase tickets through unauthorised channels.
Passengers have also been advised not to share confidential information, including passwords, one-time passwords (OTPs) and national identity card (NID) details, with anyone.
Bangladesh Railway urged passengers to use authorised channels at all times to ensure safe ticket purchases and avoid fraud. It also called on them to remain cautious when dealing with unauthorised individuals or organisations.
