Bangladesh has strongly and unequivocally condemned Saturday’s Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which reportedly killed two Bangladeshi nationals and left numerous people injured.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attack had claimed multiple lives and left many others injured, several of them in critical condition.
The Bangladesh mission in Riyadh is in contact with Saudi authorities to know details of the deceased and injured Bangladeshi nationals and facilitate necessary assistance for those affected, the ministry said.
Bangladesh expressed profound grief and extended its sincere condolences to the bereaved families, including those of the Bangladeshi victims. It also wished the injured a speedy and full recovery.
“Attacks that endanger civilian lives and target civilian infrastructure are unacceptable and must stop immediately,” the statement said.
Bangladesh also reaffirmed its firm solidarity with the government and people of Saudi Arabia in the wake of the attack.
Calling for an end to the ongoing hostilities, Dhaka urged all sides to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure and seek a peaceful resolution to the crisis through dialogue and diplomacy in the interest of regional peace, security and stability.
