State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam has said initiatives have been taken to revive cultural activities across the country.
“The Ministry of Cultural Affairs will no longer remain inactive. Initiatives have been taken to bring life back to every branch of culture,” he said.
He made the remarks while inaugurating a three-day boat race and rural fair on the Padma River near Godar Bazar Ghat in Rajbari on Thursday (October 8).
Khaiyam said a large-scale cultural festival would be organised next winter, with traditional events such as kite festivals and horse races also set to return.
Organisers said the competition was postponed due to rain and adverse weather. It is scheduled to begin at 10 AM on Friday, with the final on Saturday.
