Despite securing back-to-back victories against Australia and India, Brazil dropped one position in the latest FIFA world rankings update released on Monday (October 5).
Portugal leapfrogged the Seleção to secure the fifth spot following an impressive run in the Nations League, including a 2-1 victory over Norway on Sunday (October 4) that capped off four consecutive wins. The added rating points propelled Cristiano Ronaldo's side past both Morocco and Brazil into the top five.
As a result of Portugal's rise, Brazil slipped to sixth place. Meanwhile, African powerhouse Morocco lost points after drawing against Mali, dropping to seventh place and allowing Brazil to remain ahead of them despite the drop.
There were no changes among the top four positions in the rankings. Spain, Argentina, France, and England successfully retained their respective spots in the "Super Four."
