The Rangamati district administration has launched a two-day special drive at filling stations and LPG outlets to ensure normal gas supply and prevent an artificial shortage in the market.
On the first day, inspections were conducted at Ma Filling Station in Bhedbhedi and Haji Matbar Filling Station in Rangapani. Sellers were warned to restore normal gas supply quickly and not to create any artificial shortage.
On the following day, market monitoring was conducted at four LPG operator establishments in Reserve Bazar, Tabalchhari and Asambasti areas of Sadar upazila.
During the drive, Executive Magistrate Hasan Mahmud closely inspected retailers’ stock registers, stock levels, selling prices and whether price lists were displayed.
He also checked the equipment available to deal with emergencies.
Executive Magistrate Hasan Mahmud said the monitoring would continue to ensure the availability of LPG and petroleum products at fair prices for consumers.
“Businesses have been instructed to operate at lawful prices set by the government. Strict legal action will be taken if anyone tries to create an artificial shortage through illegal stockpiling or unfair practices, or attempts to spread misinformation,” he said.
