Son killed, father shot dead later

A man was shot dead in Rupsa upazila of Khulna on Monday (October 5), 50 days after his son was killed in a similar attack in the area.

The deceased, Akhtar Dhali, was sitting in front of his house in Durjanimahel village under Aichgati Union at around 6:45 PM when unidentified assailants opened fire and fled, police and local sources said. Locals rescued him and took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Senior police officials visited the scene after the incident. Police said they were investigating the motive behind the killing and identifying those responsible. The incident has triggered fear among local residents.

Earlier, on August 15, Akhtar’s son Joy Dhali was shot and hacked to death by unidentified assailants.
