LGBTQ influencer and makeup artist Mad Sandhu was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Amritsar, Punjab, on Saturday evening.
Police sources quoted by NDTV stated that two motorcycle-borne attackers opened fire at Mad Sandhu on a public street. Passersby found him lying in a pool of blood, and he died while being rushed to a nearby hospital.
Born Madhusudan, the creator was widely recognized on social media as "Mad Sandhu." He started his career as a costume designer and stylist in the fashion industry before gaining popularity through Instagram reels and appearances on podcasts discussing makeup, cinema, and gender identity. He also acted in Punjabi films including "O Palle Were."
Following the fatal shooting, a Facebook account under the name "Goldy Dhillon" claimed responsibility for the murder, alleging that Sandhu was corrupting the culture of Punjab.
Additional Commissioner of Police Sirivenela confirmed that two unidentified men carried out the shooting. Police authorities are currently verifying the authenticity of the social media post claiming responsibility and investigating the crime.
