AI propaganda campaign targets PM's Trump reception photo

An AI-generated fake photo is being used in a deliberate propaganda campaign to cast doubt on an official White House photograph showing Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Dr Zubaida Rahman at a reception hosted by US President Donald Trump.
The Prime Minister's Assistant Press Secretary K M Nazmul Huq clarified the matter on Saturday night, confirming that the White House sent the original photograph of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Dr Zubaida Rahman attending the reception for world leaders during the 81st UN General Assembly session in New York.
He revealed that propaganda channels attached a manipulated AI-generated image to discredit the authentic photograph. The AI-generated image satirically portrays Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti alongside a cardboard cutout of US President Donald Trump.
Propagandists are attempting to present the fake AI-generated image as genuine while falsely claiming the official photograph of the Bangladeshi Prime Minister is fabricated.
Fact-checking reports, including one published by Albania-based media platform Pamphleti.net on October 2, have already debunked the Kosovo image as an AI-manipulated fake. The Prime Minister's Press Wing noted that bad-faith actors are now exploiting that proven fake image to create confusion around the official event photo.
