Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 402 people in the capital during its regular drives over the past 24 hours.
A total of 50 cases were filed during the same period, DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Md Akter Hossain confirmed on Saturday.
Of the arrested, 30 were detained by Ramna Division, 42 by Lalbagh Division, 45 by Wari Division, 61 by Motijheel Division, 56 by Tejgaon Division, 105 by Mirpur Division, 23 by Gulshan Division, 38 by Uttara Division and two by the Detective Branch.
During the drives, police seized a foreign-made revolver, five rounds of ammunition, seven machetes, four ramdas, a pair of pliers, 8,996 yaba tablets, 35 grams of cannabis, five cans of beer, three mobile phones and a battery-powered auto-rickshaw.
Akter Hossain said the arrests were made during raids in different police station areas across the capital, where police also recovered various evidence and narcotics.
Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway, he added.
