The Bangladesh Embassy in Ireland has officially begun operations in Dublin, marking a new step in strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The embassy has initially started administrative activities from a temporary chancery office at Alexandra House in the Ballsbridge diplomatic area of Dublin, according to a post by the Foreign Ministry on Thursday (October 1).
Designated Ambassador Mohammad Nure Alam has assumed charge of the mission and is expected to present his credentials to the President of Ireland in due course.
The embassy will work to expand diplomatic engagement and cooperation between Bangladesh and Ireland while strengthening ties with the Bangladeshi community there. It will also provide passport, visa and other consular services once the necessary preparations are completed.
Around 25,000 Bangladeshis currently live in Ireland, according to the Foreign Ministry.
