Ferdousi Ahmed Misti, a Member of Parliament from a reserved seat for women representing the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), submitted her resignation letter to the Speaker of the National Parliament on Thursday (October 1).

She tendered her resignation at noon following direct instructions from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, as confirmed by Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon.

The resignation comes in the wake of public outcry over the September 24 vandalism of the Radda MCH-FP Centre (Maternal and Child Health-Family Planning Centre) in Mirpur, Dhaka. Allegations surfaced connecting Misti—the local MP for the area—and several party activists to the incident, although she denied any personal involvement.

Misti's parliamentary position had also faced ongoing scrutiny due to prior allegations of extortion, terrorism, and land grabbing dating back to her tenure as a local ward councillor.
