Three IU students suspended over departmental conflict

Acting Registrar Prof Dr Atiqur Rahman confirmed the matter.

The suspended students are Mehedi Hasan, of the 2022-23 academic session, and Abdur Rouf and Mosabbir Hossen, of the 2024-25 academic session. All three have been barred from academic activities for a provisional period.

The authorities made the decision after a clash between students of the Bangla and Information and Communication Technology departments left several people, including a teacher and Abu Sayed, a student of the 2021-22 academic session, seriously injured. Abu Sayed lost consciousness at the spot. The incident occurred near the university's Faculty Building.

The probe body is led by Prof Aynul Haque Akand, provost of Begum Khaleda Zia Hall. The members are Student Advisor Mamun Al-Rashid, Transport Administrator Sheikh Abdur Rouf and Assistant Proctor Jakir Hossain. Sub-Registrar Salahuddin Ahmed is the member secretary.
