Bus, CNG services resume in Naogaon after nine hours

Bus and CNG-run auto-rickshaw services resumed on several local and inter-district routes in Naogaon after a nine-hour suspension following a conflict between auto-rickshaw drivers and bus workers.

Services resumed around 4 PM on Wednesday after the administration brokered an agreement between the two sides. During the shutdown, passengers complained of severe inconvenience and alleged that some alternative transport operators charged excessive fares.

The dispute began last Saturday over passenger boarding at Naogaon’s Baludanga Bus Stand. It later led to clashes between bus workers and auto-rickshaw drivers, prompting a bus strike on several routes.

Several rounds of meetings were held between transport workers, auto-rickshaw owners and drivers, and the administration before an agreement was reached.

Naogaon Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Masudul Haque said services resumed under certain conditions, including maintaining separate stopping distances for buses and CNGs. He warned that legal action would be taken if anyone violated the agreement or created similar disruptions.
