Jamaat Ameer calls for alternative before Mirpur eviction

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and opposition leader Shafiqur Rahman has called for an alternative arrangement before carrying out eviction drives against small businesses in Mirpur, saying the affected traders should not be left without options.

In a post on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday (September 30), Shafiqur expressed concern over clashes between police, Dhaka North City Corporation officials and roadside traders during an eviction drive from Mirpur-13 to the Mirpur-10 Hope Market area.


The Jamaat chief also alleged that unscrupulous groups have long been collecting money from small traders in exchange for allowing them to operate on footpaths.
