Avengers: Endgame Encore has earned an estimated $86 million worldwide in its opening weekend, bringing the Marvel blockbuster closer to reclaiming the all-time box office record from Avatar.
According to Variety, the re-release collected $26 million in North America and $60 million internationally. The film's global lifetime total has now reached around $2.88 billion, leaving it approximately $39 million behind Avatar, whose worldwide total stands at about $2.92 billion.
The re-release features four new scenes designed to set up the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
Endgame originally overtook Avatar in 2019 with a $2.81 billion worldwide haul before Avatar reclaimed the record following a 2021 re-release.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on December 18 worldwide.
