Prof Muhammad Safi Ullah Majumder appointed SAU VC

Professor Dr Muhammad Safi Ullah Majumder of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University has been appointed vice-chancellor of Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU).

The Education Ministry issued a notification on Monday (September 28), appointing him for a four-year term under Section 10(1) of the Sylhet Agricultural University Act, 2006.

Dr Majumder is currently a professor in the Department of Agricultural Extension and Information System at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. As VC, he will also serve as the university’s chief executive officer.

He replaces Professor Dr Md Alimul Islam of Bangladesh Agricultural University, who was appointed SAU VC on October 17, 2024.

Dr Alimul Islam had faced protests from a section of teachers, officers and employees over allegations of irregularities and corruption, with demonstrators demanding his resignation.
