Job seekers demand more posts in 50th BCS

Job candidates of the 50th BCS have demanded the inclusion of vacant cadre posts in government colleges and an increase in the number of non-cadre seats in the ongoing recruitment process.

They also urged authorities to stop re-recommending candidates who have already secured cadre posts in previous BCS examinations to lower-tier positions.

Candidates highlighted that previous BCS examinations left a significant number of posts vacant, creating acute manpower shortages in public sector institutions while depriving qualified applicants of employment opportunities.

The 50th BCS circular advertised only 139 teaching posts for government colleges, compared to 929 posts in the 47th BCS, where 713 posts remained unfilled—accounting for nearly 77 per cent of the total quota.

Major subjects including English, Bangla, Economics, Political Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, and General Science face the most severe shortage of teaching staff.

Expressing concern over non-cadre allocations, candidates noted that only 395 non-cadre posts were advertised for the 50th BCS against 6,165 candidates who passed the written examination.

They recalled that the government previously increased non-cadre appointments to 4,156 during the 44th BCS using special provisions.

The job seekers also pointed out that candidates already appointed to cadres in earlier BCS exams often re-appear in subsequent exams, securing lower cadre or non-cadre posts and blocking fresh applicants.

Officials from the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) stated that requisition for posts falls entirely under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Public Administration, with BPSC only responsible for conducting exams and publishing final recommendations.
