Southeast Bank appoints two independent directors

Southeast Bank PLC appointed Justice Md Azizul Haque and Ms Nurjahan Begum, ndc, as Independent Directors at the bank’s 799th Board Meeting held at its head office in Dilkusha.

The meeting was chaired by Mr M A Kashem, Founder and Chairman of Southeast Bank PLC. The board held detailed discussions on various important matters concerning the bank and took necessary decisions accordingly.

Justice Md Azizul Haque joined the Bangladesh Judicial Service in 1981 and served as an Additional Judge of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh from 2008 to 2010. He has authored several books on law and is currently serving as an arbitrator.

Ms Nurjahan Begum, ndc, is a former Additional Secretary to the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. She has nearly four decades of experience in public administration, tax administration, economic management and governance. She also served as a Member of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) and as Senior Directing Staff (Civil) at the National Defence College (NDC).

Their joining the Board of Directors of Southeast Bank PLC is expected to further strengthen the bank’s corporate governance, institutional expertise and overall organisational capabilities.
