Jimmy scores as Bangladesh secure second Asian Games hockey win

Bangladesh men’s hockey team secured their second straight win at the Asian Games, beating Indonesia 3-1 in Gifu on Saturday. They had defeated Sri Lanka in their previous match.

Amirul Islam opened the scoring from a penalty corner in the 11th minute. He scored again in the first minute of the third quarter before Russell Mahmud Jimmy added a field goal in the 37th minute.

Jimmy, who had been out of the national team for around 18 months, returned to the scoresheet with the goal. Indonesia pulled one back through Fatur from a penalty stroke in the 48th minute.

Bangladesh had earlier lost to South Korea and Japan before beating Sri Lanka 5-1. They will face India on September 28 in their final group-stage match.
