3 family members' bodies recovered 2 days after Meghna trawler capsize

Bodies of father three siblings have been recovered, who went missing in the Meghna River in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, since Thursday after a trawler carrying wedding-bound passengers capsized in the river.

The bodies of Samina, 17, Sajib, 24, and five-year-old Samin were recovered from the river near AL Mostafa Factory in Baidyerbazar around Saturday morning. 

Fire Service divers and members of the river police jointly conducted the recovery operation.

The three had been missing since Thursday, when the trawler sank while the passengers were travelling to attend a relative’s wedding.

A woman named Rayesha Begum, 55, died in the accident, and her body was recovered on that day.

Helal Uddin, another member of the family, remains missing. Rescue teams are continuing their search for him.

Abdullah Al Arifin, assistant director of the Fire Service and Civil Defence in Narayanganj, confirmed the recovery of the three bodies.

The trawler, carrying 14 passengers, sank in the Meghna River on Thursday afternoon while the group was travelling to a wedding. Four people were initially reported missing following the accident.
