Iranian Supreme Leader Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei is healthy and continues to lead the country, President Masoud Pezeshkian said.
Pezeshkian said he met Khamenei about a month ago and held a several-hour discussion with him. He said Khamenei was in good health and giving necessary instructions on national issues.
Khamenei became Iran’s supreme leader after his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in an Israeli-US attack on February 28. He was reportedly injured in the attack and had rarely appeared in public since then, raising questions about his health.
Recently, Iranian state media released photos and videos of Khamenei meeting senior officials.
Pezeshkian also said he had a nearly seven-hour meeting with Khamenei in August, discussing the cost of living, unemployment, sanctions, national unity and the war.
Speaking to Fox News after the UN General Assembly, Pezeshkian said Iran remains interested in turning a July memorandum with the US into a final agreement, but would defend itself if attacked.
